When the Yang Campaign Came to CUNY
In 2021, the Yang for New York campaign came to Victor Kiani, then Executive Vice President of the Queensborough student government, for access to CUNY's students.
Andrew Yang was near the front of the mayoral field, and his campaign wanted CUNY's student leaders in a room with him. As the college's point of contact, Victor Kiani decided what that room would be for.
Not a photo op, but a working session: the right people in the room, a clear agenda of what the college needed to raise, affordability, access, and the wreckage of a year of community college under shutdown, and representatives prepared to put those concerns to a candidate who might soon run the city.
